Dubrovnik Wedding – Eva and Greg

Eva and Greg Dubrovnik Wedding | Eva and Greg met thousands of miles away from one other. They spent time over the period of a year simply writing and exchanging thoughts on everything from mediocre importance like favorite foods and the news or of monumental importance like kids and religion. Their words and their conversations turned into something more. This courtship separated by countless miles became commitment. A commitment from Greg to travel to Germany and a commitment from Eva to risk everything on this lumbering monster of a man. (lol) The first time they met in Germany during most would say the surroundings were unfit to stoke the fires of everlasting love. Words like cold, harsh, unforgiving were used to describe the weather and surroundings that fall and winter, but Eva and Greg’s love broke through. They suffered annoyance and happiness from the typical hurdles new couples’ experience, moving in together, learning each other’s rhythms, and encouraging each other’s passions. Inevitably Eva and Greg came to a major decision in their relationship. Could they trust each other enough to welcome a new member of their yet to be solidified family? The answer was yes and they chose the Dogo Argentino. The Dogo Argentino is a beautiful headstrong dog that was developed in Argentina. The breeder wanted a dog that would exhibit steadfast bravery and willingly protect its human companions to the death. This was really the true point at which Eva and Greg made an eternal commitment to one another. Cooper their now two and a half year old boy continued to teach Eva and Greg the meaning of trust, unconditional love, and forgiveness the essential parts of any marriage and it is from his commitment to be at their sides, that they too strengthened their commitment to each other. Within a year of bringing Cooper into their lives Greg knew it was time to ask for Eva’s hand in marriage. He nervously spent a day with Eva’s father Siegfried, mother Doris, and Brother Johannes to ask permission and was thankfully given it without incident. Soon after Greg planned to take Eva back to the U.S. and ask the big question, but hardship struck at the worst time. Greg’s Grandfather passed away and Eva was quickly thrown into a scenario where she would have to experience Greg at his worst and also his Father Richard, Mother Michele, and brothers Rick and Mike’s worst of times. Eva carried Greg’s sorrow and fear as her own and through the sadness of this event, the beauty of two people promising their unspoken matters of the heart gave everyone glimmer of hope. The Wedding was set but, “Why Dubrovnik?” one would ask. Eva a German Woman and Greg an American Man had no connection to this city, no history with the Croatian people. Their decision mimicked the tale of their love. They simply fell head over heels in love with the city after only one trip there. Their first visit walking in the old town, dipping in the Adriatic Sea, and sharing the unforgettable sunsets together mimicked exactly what the perfect wedding should have. Dubrovnik has natural beauty and is a constant reminder of the countless couples who devoted their love to one another through time. They declared their love in front of family, friends, God Almighty, and yes also Cooper eternally and forever on September 24th 2015. Wedding in Opatija Maša & Marin

It has all started around 4 years ago by innocent meeting at one club in Rijeka. Already after a year we realised: that’s it and we moved in together. We shared everything, we were decorating our home step by step and dreaming about everything nice that was expecting us. Next year, accidentaly, somewhere before Chirstmas we bumped into a little abandoned puppy. We agreed immediately: we are taking this cute puppy home, our Luna (later you will see how charming she is)! I am not sure if we’ve found her or she has found us but one thing is sure; it was the best decision we have ever done, it has changed our life in every sense and it enriches it every day. Somehow, everything went well and then, on our 4th anniversary we got engaged. As you assume, our Luna had the main role at this event too..she carried a ring on her collar and that was the way Marin and Luna made me infinitely happy! Parents from both sides were overwhelmed as well as our godparents. We knew long time ago that this honor will go to our best friends, Petra and Goran. From then, planning, reservations and preparations started…We decided we want our „the day“ celebrate in Opatija, beautiful town near Rijeka. Very soon, the band was solved, decorations, photos and video (here we had no doubt whom we wanted), catering, invitations, lights, bow for Luna and other details were also arranged very soon. The choice of wedding gown and groom’s suit followed. No matter it sounds as a delicate task, when you put on yourself the right thing, you feel light tingling and believe me, you just know it is it! Regarding rings, no dilemma either, we have chosen white gold wedding rings engraved with our fingertips inside – so except in the heart we carry each other on a hand too. It has all passed in a moment and after all those preparations, wishes and excitment, finally, our unforgettable, June 14, 2014., has arrived. We were afraid of the rain because it was raining whole week but the day was sunny and beautiful as it was telling us: the sun is shinning for you, just relax and enjoy! We avoided some traditions (we were making our own ) so that morning I have kissed my groom for good luck and left our appartment for a make up and hair styling. First part of the celebration started at our place then on a big terrace at Marin’s parents house. After that, all guests started to gather at my parents’ home accompanied by sounds of klapa singers…We left the guests to enjoy on their own for some time while Marin and me went for a shooting with our godparents and One day studio team. We were walking in Opatija, soaking up its magic and smell of the sea, having fun with our godparents, laughing with random passengers while One day studio team has already captured all those moments, totally relaxed and insensible. The most solemn moment followed – the St. Jacob Church, warm speech of the priest, sounds of „You raise me up“ song performed by Dino Antonic and my dad and me walking towards the altar. With a tear in his eye, but proud, he handed me over to Marin and our emotional ceremony has begun. We were pronouncing our vows, Marin cried and all the guests supported him with huge applause. I think we all cried a bit that day, touched, happy, satisfied. After the church, all 140 guests proceeded to amazing green park Angiolina where we toasted with chapagne and then walked to hotel. We survived first dance (timeless „When a men loves a women“ performed by Davor Radolfi) and we really enjoyed it. We watched all those dear faces of people who surrounded and supported us and we knew there is a night to rembember upon us. Line of dance, fine meals and out of nowhere the midnight has arrived! It was godparents’ turn… their speeches we will remember forever. The whole restaurant was listening to them breathless…they were so wonderful, special, honest,…The wedding cake followed, then fireworks outside with fire heart…bouquet throwing, garter throwing…you know how it goes…and after that, fun, fun and just fun!!! All together, I know it sounds like a cliches, but it really was a dream wedding! Now, some time after the wedding has passed, with a smile and proud we turn back on each detail and memory of our unforgettable day. Recently we found out that our little familly will be increased by one more member and we can’t wait to show photos and videos of mummy’s and daddy’s special day to a fruit of this huge love. Once again, from the bottom of our hearts, thanks to all who participated and helped us in making come true this special day of ours! Without you, it wouldn’t be the same! Big Fat Croatian wedding – why?

We all know the comedy movie ‘My Big Fat Greek Wedding’ that conquered all world theaters and put smiles on many faces. Even though some people say they want a small decent wedding, deep down in their hearts they actually dream of the big, white, traditional and, we may say, fat wedding (fat meaning the wedding with lots of nice and tasty foods). So, how about a big fat Croatian wedding? If you have never heard of Croatia seat back, relax and keep reading! Croatia is the newest star on the European Union flag. This is a small country with big potential, mostly in natural and historical resources. This is the country with one of the richest water sources in Europe but also in the world and it’s most famous for its beautiful coastline on the Adriatic Sea. Many people say it is one of the most beautiful seas in the world! Besides the blue sea, there are also thousands (yeah, you read well – thousands!) of islands, islets and peninsulas and this is what makes the whole Croatian Adriatic story so special. One of the Croatian treasure destinations is widely known town of Dubrovnik. It is settled in the south of Croatia, close to the Montenegro border. Dubrovnik is recognized by the medieval walls and is named one of the ten most beautiful medieval cities in the world. Apart from the walls, this town has numerous churches, narrow streets, restaurants and other remarkable old constructions where you could have your ‘big fat Croatian wedding’. It is also good to mention that Dubrovnik is one of the top touristic destinations in the world and its second name is ‘Croatian Athens’! But, Dubrovnik is not the only pearl Croatia can offer. There are many other places that can easily take your breath away and make you to consider having your wedding ceremony exactly there! Just to name a few – town of Rovinj, island of Hvar (the sunniest place in Croatia!), town of Split, Zadar, Šibenik… All of this places offer beautiful nature, most of all clean, crystal blue see, and also old churches, narrow streets, good food… what else do you need for a great wedding? But it’s not only the coast that Croatia can offer. It also has mountainous regions and flat areas. Lika is mountainous region and can be very romantic durring winter, with a lot of snow covering many nice old weekend cottages. On the other side is flat area called Slavonia. Huge green meadows, many rivers and grain fields, numerous medieval churches and castles is what you first notice. Perhaps, one of the places inland could be a prefect place for your wedding! Apart from the beautiful regions of Croatia, this country offers memorable culinary experience, too. One of many secrets to great Croatian food are top-notch ingredients from the land and sea. Sea food is very popular on the coastline and the tastes you feel there will surely make you come again for more. On the continental part of the country very popular meals are made of meat, beans and potatoes prepared the traditional way. Many would agree that Croatia’s untouched natural beauty, healthy food, water, medival architechture, warm, pleasent and hospitable people make it the perfect wedding destination! So why not have a ‘big fat Croatian wedding’?!

Wedding Vows

Wedding vows | One of the most important moments of every wedding, beside saying ‘yes’ and ‘I pronounce you husband and wife’ is certainly wedding vows. It is the moment when a couple, soon to be married, promise to each other what they will give one to another in their marrige and they try to express their love, too. Also, older couples who were married for 30 or even more years, usually decide to renew their wedding vows so they do it to prove their love once again. Altogether, the wedding vows are very popular in western countries and the wedding is not a good wedding without vows which bring tears into the eyes of all the guests. When we think of wedding vows, one of the questions that interests us the most is: When did people start to practice this tradition? We need to look for the answer really back in the past, in the Roman Empire, in era before Christ. In that old times, people, members of the lower classes, would marry in a way that bride’s father would bring her to the groom and then they would get married by keeping the vow of marriage by mutual consent. So, this was just the beginning of the wedding vows and the oldest written wedding vows can be tracked in the year 1549 and the Book of Common Prayer from England. If a couple wanted to get married, Church of England offered a choice to young couples to tell one another that they will ‘love and cherish’ each other „till death do us apart“. Wedding vows can be longer or shorter. It is up to you, woman or a man who are getting married, but if you want to keep it interesting, try to make it short and try to express your love in concised but dramatical sentences. Wedding vows are very personal, but you must say them in front of the crowd. They can be traditional, if you marry in a religious way, in a church. In that case there are some specific vows which you can not deviate from. If you opt for a more modern wedding, then you can always use some humorous sentences, jokes and romantic quotes as well as love poems. There are plenty of examples of the vows on the Internet but the best advice we can give you is – just say the wedding vows from your soul and your heart!
Vis Croatia – Wedding Circus of Love

This Croatian girl and a Colombian boy met while living in London. Rafa was just about to leave for his travels, and Tanja just returned from her’s… It was a twist of fate that placed them both in the same place at the same time, and ignited this close friendship into love. If you ask them, the connection was formed many lives before, otherwise, how else would you explain that it took Rafa only a few days to ask Tanja to share his journey and the rest of their lifetime with him! Without hesitation, she said yes – and that was it. From that moment they were married at heart, and so they went on a one-year long honey moon before the official wedding. They searched the world to find that little piece of paradise to park their love caravan. And they found it under the Croatian sun, on the magical island of Vis. Their Wedding Circus of Love joined the two families and closest friends from 19 countries around the world, over a beautiful celebration of pure love, that goes beyond any cultural, social or language differences… Place – Island Vis Croatia Click here to see the movie on vimeo!
